I’ve recently re-invested in bonsai trees. I purchased a Fukien Tea tree and a Tree of a Thousand Stars at Lowe’s and am going to try to keep them alive as well as style them while my seedlings come up for the next couple of years. I re-potted the Fukien Tea about a month ago, and will do the same with the Thousand Stars soon.
I was initially worried that I had damaged the Fukien Tea tree, as I cut off a lot of root matter to fit it into the bonsai pot, but within a few days, new leaves began to sprout.
In my planters, I have added some watering stakes, which pull water from wine and liquor bottles and leach it into the soil. This is useful because I can apply diatomaceous earth to the surface less frequently since water washes it away.
